I began gardening and growing some food by trial and error over the last 15 years or so. I started growing blueberries and raspberries in the backyard in containers first. This worked out really well and since I love raspberries it was a no-brainer for me. Then season after season the number of plants expanded into dozens and then hundreds. I worked at a local nursery and had access to so, so many plants! It was amazing.
Containers upon containers of raspberries and blueberries in tubs all happily growing side by side. Soon after that the cherry trees followed, then the dozens of perennial flowers…it just didn’t end. Because I didn’t have any land restrictions it just kept getting bigger and bigger. I kept collecting more stuff to build with.
I started making this website and writing articles for my own amusement and to my surprise some people were interested in what I was saying. It seemed like many people wanted to learn about the kind of gardening that I was doing.
I enjoy teaching beginner gardeners and sharing my experience and knowledge with them. I hope to make a website that you’ll find interesting and useful to help you get started in your own backyard food garden.
May we all have the opportunity to experience the wonder of being able to sprout a seed and grow it into delicious food.
