Stacy

My story is pretty simple, I learned how to garden and grow food by trial and error mostly on my own over the last 10 years or so.

I started growing blueberries and raspberries in the backyard in containers. This worked out really well and since I love raspberries it was a no-brainer for me.

Then season after season the number of plants expanded into dozens and now a few hundred.

Containers upon containers of raspberries and blueberries in tubs all happily growing side by side. Soon after that the cherry trees followed, then the perennial flowers…

There are a lot of flowering shrubs and perennial flowers to increase bee population.  By doing this I have had a huge impact on the level of pollination and has probably doubled my raspberry and blueberry harvest in one season.

I started making this website and writing articles for my own amusement and to my surprise people were interested in what I was saying. I realized that many people wanted to learn the type of gardening I was doing but in simple to understand way.

I enjoy sharing my gardening knowledge and experience with beginner gardeners. I hope to make a website that you’ll find useful to help you get started in your own backyard food and flower garden.

Come see how easy it is to sprout and grow veggies like carrots, potatoes and beans and also enjoy delicious fruit like raspberries and blueberries right in your own backyard.

My next goal is to teach kids how to garden and grow food too. We need to pass the love of gardening on to kids as well. It’s a lot of fun and they will learn many life skills and lessons from doing gardening activities that suit their age and ability.

What will happen in the future if no one knows (or too few people know) how to grow food?

On that note, please stop by the Gardening Nursery as well.

This website belongs to a colleague of mine, it’s filled with great information and backyard gardening techniques. It supports the important common goal of teaching small scale, raised bed and container food gardening to everyone.

There can never be too many people that know how to grow food for themselves.

May we all have the opportunity to experience the wonder of being able to sprout a seed and grow it into delicious food.

Happy Gardening!
